2022-23 CLASS SCHEDULES

Schedule and Description

(Class times: 9:30-3:30)

Some classes will be taught all school year and others will change every 9 weeks as needed. Classes are subject to change, contact us to confirm.

Sports and Group Games: All classes will have 2 active times each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Sports class will include skills such as volleyball, basketball, hula-hooping, etc. As the weather permits, we have organized games outside as well as free play with swings, side-walk chalk, hula-hoops, a playhouse, and water table.  For inside, we also play group games, and we have a variety of board games, memory games, Legos, blocks, etc. and change them up frequently.

Primary A and Primary B

Both Primary A and B classes have their own classrooms and have their own schedules. Primary A and B are K/1st combined classes for ages 5-7. The curriculum we've chose as a basis for these classes is Five in a Row (FIAR). It is a literature-based curriculum that incorporates all subjects based on the story of the week. They will also have Spanish and Music Classes (days TBD).

 

Primary C (Ages 7-9)

TUESDAY

9:30 Music 

10:20 Snack

10:30 Sports/Recess: Students will learn basic skills for a variety of sports. For example: volleyball, soccer, hula-hooping, and basketball.

11:30: Drama

12:10: Lunch

12:40: Cultural Studies, which will complement the geography class on Thursdays.

1:30 Group Games: Inside or outside, depending on the weather. Outdoor games include variations of tag. Indoor games: Group games like 4 corners, and music games and then variety of centers so that students can choose an activity.

2:20 Snack

2:30 Design and Engineering: Includes Legos, but not every class.

3:15-3:30 Dismissal

THURSDAY

9:30 Environmental Education: Environmental Education is a way to connect children to nature and increase their awareness and knowledge about their environment, while building critical thinking skills.
Topics studied: trees and forests, wildlife, water, air, energy,
waste, invasive species, community planning, and more. This
class will bring the environment into the classroom, and
students into the environment.

10:20 Snack

10:30 Sports/Recess (see description above)

11:20 Art Fundamentals: The students will learn the basic techniques and elements of art throughout the year, and the artists that used these techniques. They will use a 9 x 12 sketchbook to create a visual flip book with each of these elements inside each page. They will create art projects to compliment the knowledge learned.

12:10 Lunch

12:40 Story Studies: The class will have a book or short story read to them and then they will have a project to reinforce an element of the book and learn vocabulary ex: setting, plot and theme.

1:30 Group Games (see description above)

2:20 Snack

2:30 Geography, which compliments Cultural Studies on Tuesday, however, attendance on Tuesday is not required.

 

Tween (Ages 10-12)

TUESDAY

10:30 Art Fundamentals: (description above)

11:30: History: Compliments Cultural Studies/Geography on Thursdays.

12:10: Lunch

12:40: Group Games: Indoor or outdoor depending on the weather. Students learn cooperation and social skills through playing games.

1:30: Music-Introduction to a variety of music, learning notes and some instruments like the xylophone.

2:20 Snack

2:30 Drama: Students will work on public speaking skills, debate, acting skills and perform skits or play at the Christmas Celebration and End-of-year Assembly.

3:20-3:30 Dismissal
