MUSIC - This class introduces students to the rudiments of music through oral, aural and written practice utilizing rhythm, melody, intervals, scales, chords and musical notation. This class is designed for beginners or for students who need extra practice and repetition at a beginner's level. Students will learn the history and theory of music and apply those theories and practice piano, ukulele, xylophone, Boomwhackers procession instruments, tambourines, maracas, handbells, and drums.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE) - Students will use a variety of equipment to promote physical wellness and psychomotor skills. There will be an emphasis on group collaboration. Students will learn to function as a team through group games and challenges.
ART - Is there an artist in your family? This class will help to develop their artistic talents through studies of the masters, learning techniques, using different mediums, and discussion of art through the history of mankind. Topics include: Illumination, Printmaking, Asian Arts, using textiles and many, many others.
SCIENCE - This hands-on science class covers topics such as climate, forecasting, weather, cells, anatomy, chemistry, gases, electricity and circuitry, magnets and more. Various resources will be used to engage students of all ages. Examples include anatomy kits, microscopes, paper circuits, and surprising experiments!
PLAYGROUND GAMES - Students will love this fun movement class. They will play classic games like 4-Square, Hopscotch, Jump Rope, Double Dutch, Chinese Jump Rope, SPUD, Chicken Noodle Tag, Capture the Flag and so many more timeless favorites!
STEAM - Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects are the focal point of popular integrated learning systems. However, many are calling out for the “A” in “arts” to turn STEM into STEAM. At My Village Learning Center, we believe Art is an integral component of STEM as it requires creativity during such processes as design engineering, science experimentation or creating prototypes in technology. This STEAM class will include a variety of hands-on activities that involve cooperative group project-based learning with a variety of materials.
